MOLO STREET CHILDREN PROJECT
We exist to reach men & woman in prostitution; to support them physically, emotionally and spiritually; to restore them to lives of fullness.
OUR PASSION
There are many dysfunctional families where children endure various abuses and lack adequate parental nurture. We strive to offer care and support to vulnerable children in the Molo community.
OUR MISSION
We collaborate with parents and guardians to keep children within their community or families whenever feasible. For the most vulnerable, our safe houses offer a nurturing family environment for optimal growth.
-
Molo Street Children Project was established in 2003 to provide care and support to destitute children in the town of Molo in Kenya. The project developed to work with approximately 300 children and their families, working with children rescued from the streets, from negligent parents or dangerous situations.
Currently we run a home for 8 children in long term care and have another 10 places for short term emergency rescue of children in crisis. We also provide financial support, counselling and mentoring for children in poverty who attend local schools, and work with their families to support them with income generating schemes. To date 150 children have completed their education and 13 have graduated with degrees.

Amy's House
The name ‘Amy’s House’ is in memory of Amy Welsh, a vibrant 20-year-old from Northern Ireland who died after a short illness in 2012. Amy had visited the project in 2011, fell in love with the children and was planning to return after completing university. Her parents, Bill and Karen, have been supporting the children in the house and have joined with us to raise funds for the building of the permanent property.
Sonia and Chris' current work through Molo Street Children Project is involved with the direct support of 26 children, six of whom we house in foster care, with 2-4 others joining for various parts of the school holidays. The children in foster care are aged between 7 and 13 years. These children are either orphans or have untenable home situations, which made it dangerous for them to stay with their parents or guardians. At present we are housing them in a tired wooden house. We are in the process of building a stone house on a plot of land that will be able to accommodate these children and offer protection for other children in need of short-term rescue and care.

Nathan's Story
Nathan lived with his hard-working single mother, but she was unable to sustain him at school. He was a very intelligent boy, achieving good marks. MSCP enrolled Nathan onto the feeding program and found him a sponsor to pay his school fees. Nathan excelled academically, and in his final primary school exam he was first in his class having scored 413 marks (out of 500). He joined a prestigious secondary school where he gained an A in his final exam, one of the top students in the country. He was admitted to Nairobi University to study medicine, and is now in his 5th year.
The Education Fund
The Education Fund is set up to help children like Nathan. With your help, we can support the children in the project at all educational stages to be able to access suitable educational provision regardless of their educational stage or their individual needs. One-time gifts or a monthly donation are welcomed, but monthly donations help us to support children in education long term.
£25.00 will buy a full set of uniform for a child.

Sponsor a Child
Child sponsorship is a wonderful way to invest directly in the lives of children who would otherwise go without food, clothing, education and other necessities such as medicines and supplies. Molo Street Children Project supports dozens of children every day and is looking for sponsors to help them to meet the complex needs they identify for each child. A monthly gift for a child would provide the help up they need, easing the financial pressures on Molo Street Children Project as a whole.
