MOLO STREET CHILDREN PROJECT

We aim to reach, rescue, rehabilitate and re-intergrate abandoned children and orphans into the community.

OUR PASSION

There are many dysfunctional families where children endure various abuses and lack adequate parental nurture. We strive to offer care and support to vulnerable children in the Molo community.

OUR MISSION

We collaborate with parents and guardians to keep children within their community or families whenever feasible. For the most vulnerable, our safe houses offer a nurturing family environment for optimal growth.

  • Molo Street Children Project was established in 2003 to provide care and support to destitute children in the town of Molo in Kenya. The project developed to work with approximately 300 children and their families, working with children rescued from the streets, from negligent parents or dangerous situations.

Currently we run a home for 8 children in long term care and have another 10 places for short term emergency rescue of children in crisis. We also provide financial support, counselling and mentoring for children in poverty who attend local schools, and work with their families to support them with income generating schemes. To date 150 children have completed their education and 13 have graduated with degrees.

The name ‘Amy’s House’ is in memory of Amy Welsh, a vibrant 20-year-old from Northern Ireland who died after a short illness in 2012. Amy had visited the project in 2011, fell in love with the children and was planning to return after completing university. Her parents, Bill and Karen, have been supporting the children in the house and have joined with us to raise funds for the building of the permanent property.

This building is providing a safe, warm and welcoming place for children under the care of MSCP to be housed, supported and educated. It is a brilliant and secure space that serves the community of Molo and the vulnerable children and families who need it most. The General Fund is key to sustaining daily operations and we need your help to do that. Your contribution would help us provide short term secure housing, food, clothing, stationary, pay for bills, provide essential support staff and counselling services, all of which are vital to the success of our work. This, in turn, will have a lasting impact on the children and families we serve, helping them continue their journey toward development and success.

Nathan's Story

Nathan lived with his hard-working single mother, but she was unable to sustain him at school. He was a very intelligent boy, achieving good marks. MSCP enrolled Nathan onto the feeding program and found him a sponsor to pay his school fees. Nathan excelled academically, and in his final primary school exam he was first in his class having scored 413 marks (out of 500). He joined a prestigious secondary school where he gained an A in his final exam, one of the top students in the country. He was admitted to Nairobi University to study medicine, and is now in his 5th year.

The Education Fund

The Education Fund is set up to help children like Nathan. With your help, we can support the children in the project at all educational stages to be able to access suitable educational provision regardless of their educational stage or their individual needs. One-time gifts or a monthly donation are welcomed, but monthly donations help us to support children in education long term.

£25.00 will buy a full set of uniform for a child.
£15.00 will buy a pair of strong school shoes.
£5.00 will buy a school shirt.
£8.00 will buy a pair of school trousers.
£40.00-50.00 will buy a month of boarding school.
£10.00-£25.00 will buy a month of day school.

Sponsor a Family

Sponsor a Family

Family Care sits at the heart of our work, reflecting our shift toward strengthening not just the child, but the family as a whole. Sponsoring a family is a wonderful way to invest directly in the lives of children and their families, who would otherwise go without food, clothing, education and other necessities such as medicines and supplies.

Through reintegration, case management, and family strengthening, we walk closely with children and their caregivers to support safe and stable home environments. The cost of living has risen world wide and the same is true in Kenya and felt deeply by families living in Molo. You can support them by contributing toward this, either as a one-time gift or a monthly commitment. Your support, in any measure, helps sustain children and their families with dignity and care helping them to thrive.
